I don't know how old the springs are in my 77. The po did change the strut cartridges and a random bushing here and there but I just can't tell about the springs. Anyway to check by measuring ,or if I take to a tire shop will this be not worth thier effort and can they get an accurate measurment.

Your springs are probably 28 years old. There's no real reason to worry about them unless the car is sagging or you want better performance from your suspension. To really check them, you have to take them off. And at that point, because of all the hassle, you might as well replace them.

Most tire shops probably wouldn't have the equipment to measure the spring rate, but many suspension specialists might have it. check your factory service manual for the stock specifications and compare.
