In the JTR conversion manual it explains things you can do to make the weight distribution the same or even lighter than the stock L28. i'm putting on alum. heads/ manifold, headers, alum. radiator, electric fans/fuelpump/waterpump, and moving the battery to the back, there are a few more but the JTR conversion is good because you can place the engine down low and closer to the firewall to get an excellent and lower center of gravity, and keep the weight distribution close to 50/50. I looked into alot of things and the L28 is nice but you can get a stock 350sbc and easily pump out 250-350hp and not pay a ton for the highperformace parts it would cost you in L28 parts. Don't get me wrong your still going to pay for the conversion and etc. but if your like me and want atleast 400hp-500hp it is way cheaper to do this with a v8. Might be good to check with the rules as to what you're allowed to do. preith Posted October 25, 2005 Share #15 Posted October 25, 2005 I don't have any real world V8 Zcar experience, but IMHO the Rover V8 just isn't worth it. The weight savings over a Chevy V8 with aluminum heads is minimal, the Rover doesn't have anywhere near the same amount of aftermarket parts, and the Chevy will be much more powerfull for less money. Also, It's been stated many times before that a Chevy small block with alum. heads is only slightly heavier than the L6, something like 50 lbs.
