71' Z how to get the center vent out???

Hey guys, I'm cleaning my vents. The two round side vents were easy to get out. How do I get the center dash vent out without breaking it???

This is far easier if you follow all four of the control lines and unscrew them at the far ends. I wish I had known that years ago when I first tried to remove mine ...

I use some stuff called "Nevr-Dull" to clean up the chrome. It comes in a blue can and is cotton wadding soaked in cleaner / polish. Rub and rub and rub - you'll be surprised how well the chromed plastic cleans up.

The control lines are single metal wire at the end, with a small crook in the line right?

and all I have to do in un-hook that crook from a lever with a little hole on the end of it right?

I used Mr. Bubble toilet cleaner a tooth brush (my wifes of course, and some hot water.

I think it's pretty obvious once you look at them how they come off. They all have some sort of clamp that firmly attaches to the black cable sheath. Some of mine have a straight wire coming out of the end with a type of set-screw that grips it while others have a sort of loop on the end that simply hooks around a control level.

I needed to get back there and do some Fall cleaning anyway.

Everytime I turn the fan on I get junk comming out of the vents. The wife isn't to happy about having to clean off everytime she gets out of the car.
