Posted October 28, 200519 yr comment_143508 Was talking with FMSI (FMSIinc.com) today regarding some 3/16" brake line steel tube nuts (Item #3043 3/16" 10mm x 1.0 Japanese) . They said they only sold to jobbers and parts stores and in bulk. They did however turn me on to the "Only" distributor for FMSI in the USA. Guys name is Kevin at (814) 362-3221. Owns 3-4 parts stores (Autopartmart is the name I think) I talked with him for a little bit and he stated that you could order whatever quantity you want. (I.E. - No bulk order requirements) So if anyone wants to make up their own brake lines here's a source for the tube nuts... webdawg1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17781-brake-line-metric-steel-tube-nuts/ Share on other sites
October 28, 200519 yr comment_143509 So if I'm understanding, you would use a 3/16" wrench on these, but they have 10mm x 1.0 threads. Yes, No? October 28, 200519 yr comment_143511 No, it's a 3/16" brake line with a 10 x 1 mm nut. The metric brake tube size is damn near identical, its something like 4.7mm IIRC. The 3/16" fitting will work on your stock brake lines just fine. FWIW I've never had trouble getting a hold of them, and if you can't buy them separately for some reason you can always just buy a 6" length of brake line that is pre-flared and has 2 of them on it already then you don't have to special order anything. I've never been to an autoparts store that didn't have a pre-made line with them already on it in CA or WA, although there was a guy in TX complaining that he had to order the fittings recently on hybridz. October 28, 200519 yr comment_143516 I've bought pre-made lines also, but the fittings always require a US Standard 7/16" wrench, not the Datsun standard 10mm wrench. I hatre having to use a "special wrench" for one line that is different frojm all the others. Wish it was possible to get fittings with the 10mm hex & 10mm x 1.0 thread. October 28, 200519 yr comment_143517 You can buy the "Japanese" break line and nuts from your local Advance Auto.Nothing special about that. It also requires a 10mm wrench Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17781-brake-line-metric-steel-tube-nuts/#findComment-143517 Share on other sites
