Posted October 29, 200519 yr comment_143565 Hi, all.I want to repaint, as true as possible, the light blue color of the air cleaner in the 280. Has anyone been able to replicate that color, or have a color code? Many thanks in advance. October 29, 200519 yr comment_143585 You know you are on a car lover's site when the question "What color is blue?" would actually make good sense!!! Ask Beandip, he just recently re-did his. October 29, 200519 yr comment_143587 Take it to a good shop, they can digitally scan it or what ever the hell they do and get an exact match of what you want. October 29, 200519 yr comment_143588 Duplicolor Engine Enamel Ponitac Blue DE1610 is so freaken close. the original has just the slightest more touch of green. But you'd have to have them next to each other to see it. October 29, 200519 yr comment_143590 Time out Chris, the better paint shops can match the sample you bring in, but that is the key. You MUST bring in a sample for them to match. From what he posted, he's asking for the original paint code. I know Gary knows it as he just had his breather painted, but I myself don't know the code. You're right that he can get anything he wants, but if he's looking to find the code as it came out of the factory, the breather he might have in his car would have 35+_ YEARS of age/ grime / use behind it. Me, I'd opt for the code and have the paint mixed.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17787-color-of-blue-air-cleaner/#findComment-143590 Share on other sites

October 29, 200519 yr comment_143592 Les Cannaday told me he would have some made, but it never really came about. I guess I didn't bug him enough about it. I geuss he sells alot more Nissan turquise engine color to bother with another color he'd sell two cans a year of. October 29, 200519 yr comment_143595 Dont come to me for the color . I painted my engine block Chrisler blue and the same for the air cleaner. I did this because the origional engine color was blue and I read that the Chrisler color was vary close . My Z is painted Screaming Yellow , a 2005 Ford Mustang color . The orange air cleaner just clashed badly so I shot it the same as the block. I am not a purest and I mearly went for the look . This is hi-temp rattle can paint . October 30, 200519 yr Author comment_143715 Beandip, I also heard the Chrysler blue was very close to the original block color. Did you find that to be the case? Do you have the paint code, by any chance? That's one of my next projects.
