Posted November 3, 200519 yr comment_144321 Hello I’ve been an admirer of the early Z cars since I was a kid. Finally looking into buying one of my own. Hoping I could seek out a little advise from the apparently well established community here at Classic Z Cars.Currently looking at a 1971 240Z that is close buy. I have studied up on what to look for but I’d still like to get some comments from the pros. I’ve posted all the pictures of my pending purchase to my member galley. I’d appreciate any advise or comments people may have that will help me verify the cars “original†status. Also anything I should be aware of problem wise you may see on this particular or on the 240z model in general. I’ve had quite a bit of restoration experience when it comes to Chevy models, so any work the Z may need doesn’t bother me. However I’m new to the import market, so I could use some advise on what reproduction parts are available (sheet metal, interior, etc..) and the best places to procure them.Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.Darrel Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17858-hello/ Share on other sites
November 3, 200519 yr comment_144331 Darrel,This car looks like it is in pretty good shape. No major rust that I can see. Check under the battery tray, the frame rail, the floor boards (you may need to tap around with a screw driver to find weak spots). The car looks pretty straight. Here are a few places you will want to be familiar with for parts.http://www.zcarparts.com (all kinds of parts) order their free cataloghttp://www.ztherapy.com (the best Carb service in the business)http://www.datsunrestore.com (nice hard to find stuff)http://www.zzxdatsun.com (also hard to find stuff)http://www.datsunzparts.com (the best floor boards)http://www.tabcobodyparts.com (nice cheap body panels) although this car doesn't look like it needs any.Good luck,Mark Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17858-hello/#findComment-144331 Share on other sites
November 3, 200519 yr comment_144341 http://www.zcarparts.com (all kinds of parts) order their free catalogMSA's catalog is no longer free, it costs $5. But they will credit that back against your first order. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/17858-hello/#findComment-144341 Share on other sites
