Tahnks for the confirmation that the egr hole is threaded. And thanks for the opinions that JB weld can't take the heat.

Anyone have an idea of what size the threads might be? i stuck the largest bolts i could find in my garage in there, and they were all too small. I think 14mm was the largest one i had.

I'm using the 280 exhaust manifold to go with teh 280 engine that is in the car. The 240 exhaust manifold didn't have the right shape exhaust ports (and is also smaller).

Thanks,

Ty

You might try visiting an exhaust shop, I know they have plugs for oxygen sensor ports, they may have plugs for the EGR port as well.

Or, you could hunt down an EGR tube that fits the manifold, and then cut it off and plug it. Thats what I did on mine.

Eventually I will buy a round port header for mine, which will solve all the issues.

The problem with trying to plug the EGR hole on the exhaust manifold is that the hole has a good coating of rust in it, so trying to get a threaded bolt or plug in probably won't work. You may have to be creative, but make sure that the hole is properly plugged so the exhaust gasesdon't get out, and the heat won't deteriorate the plug.
