Proud new 1970 240Z Owner!!

I am pleased to join the long list of happy Z owners as of yesterday, 11/5! I made an impulsive decision to jump on a plane at the last second to fly from Phoenix to LA yesterday to look at a Z for sale. The owner was a nice guy who didn't have the time nor assets to invest in the car to get it up to good condition, so he put it on the market on Friday. It was a good deal financially but the most impressive part is the VIN number: HLS3001399!!!! I now own the 1,399 Z ever built, so cool! I am looking forward to getting it in primo shape and will look forward to gaining the insight of so many other Z enthusiasts.

Long live the Z!!!

Duffman,

Welcome and we all anxiously await the pics!

California sure seems to have a lot of early, low VIN 240s. The warm, dry Southern California weather (like you have in AZ) helps a lot since rust is not an issue like it is in most places around the country. Also, there are probably more 240Zs located in California than the rest of the states combined due to population and the sheer numbers that were originally purchased there 35 years ago.

Here's another low VIN (#2864) located in California that only got bid up to slightly over $700.00, had 30 bids and did not meet the reserve. How can you have 30 bids on a 1970 240z (no mater what the condition) and only get up to $700.00? Granted, the car needs a lot of work, but if it was located geographically closer to me, I would certainly consider buying it for a project:

Congratulations on your new car! I don't mean to be picky but this is a comment that often gets posted by new members and is not correct. This was roughly the 1,399th left hand drive 240Z ever produced (assuming no large gaps between VIN numbers). RHD (no L in the VIN) 240Z's were produced in parallel with the LHD versions. There was most likely an HS3001399 too! And a PS3001399. And an S3001399.

Some excellent information resides in this thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13073&page=1

The above is my understanding of the situation.. if it's incorrect please correct me!

Alfadog, way to put a wet towel on the celebration ...! No, I appreciate your input and I read the previous thread regarding production dates. I am comfortable in having the 1,399 LHD version Z made!

ddezso, I live in McDowell Mtn Ranch. Thanks for the info on the Pavillions show, hope my Z is delieverd by then!
