Do you have it yet - do you have it yet - do you have it yet??

Why am I so excited for you. We need pictures and you have to come to the Pavilions the next time the Z Club is there. That will be Sat Dec 10. Dont worry if it aint perfect. There are very few classic Z's and too many punks in 350Z's. I was there last week and mine was the oldest.....

Welcome,

I agree with ENIGMA...when I got my Z, I just planned to 'refresh' it enough for a daily driver...now I'm a LOT lighter in the wallet doing a full restore. With a low-vin car like yours...youre going to want it mint!

Post those pics when you get them.

Sorry for the late delay in responding to all! Yes, I am already lightening my wallet, as my car is in for major engine overhaul. Fortunately, have it in the hands of a Classic Z owner (and mechanic) in Phoenix to resurrect the beast! Will update when I get it back (in shop for last 3 to 4 weeks, ouch!!)

Duffman,

Welcome and we all anxiously await the pics!

California sure seems to have a lot of early, low VIN 240s. The warm, dry Southern California weather (like you have in AZ) helps a lot since rust is not an issue like it is in most places around the country. Also, there are probably more 240Zs located in California than the rest of the states combined due to population and the sheer numbers that were originally purchased there 35 years ago.

Here's another low VIN (#2864) located in California that only got bid up to slightly over $700.00, had 30 bids and did not meet the reserve. How can you have 30 bids on a 1970 240z (no mater what the condition) and only get up to $700.00? Granted, the car needs a lot of work, but if it was located geographically closer to me, I would certainly consider buying it for a project:

CHECKED COMPRESSION WELL THIS IS WHAT HAPPINED I GOT A LITTLE OVER A HUNDRED ON FOUR CYLINDERS, THE FIFTH GOT 120 AND THE THIRD ONE GOT 35 PSI. SO THE MAJOR THING WRONG WITH THE CAR IS IT NEEDS RINGS.

Rings??? How did the car ever run, with the old valves? Does this make sense to anyone?

Hey Duffman - where did you take it? Gary at Spanky's in Mesa has mine for the next few days. He does a great job.

Do you have any freakin pictures yet? I want to see this thing. All of the Z club was at the Pavilions again last Saturday so we won't be there for about a month now. I hope to see your ride in January. It's not too far from you and a fun time. I dont really fit in with the ZClub gang but it's cool to have all of the Z's out at the same time......

Hi Duff,

As a Z sicko you should be feeling pretty good with your find! I too, am an owner of an early Z.....727 car after yours. My manfacturing date is 3/70 as well. It's kinda cool owning one of the early units (bragging right maybe) but any of the 240, 260, or 280 body styles are just as beautiful in appearance. As you will likely discover, rust is a problem with just about any early Z. You may not see it until you start really looking during disassembly, but trust me, if you can see a little here and there there will be more other places. We've all experienced this beast. Anyway, you know where you can get answers to your future questions.....right here @ Classic Zcar Club! Alot of kind and knowegdable members here, willing to share with another Z sicko. Good luck and post some pics.
