Hello I am going to replace all my fuel lines and possibly my fuel rail. I used to have clear tubing on my old 510 that worked great and wanted the same on my new Z.

I am going to use 1/4" from the main hard line and was told that the tubing is fuel rated PCV but I can not find any and did not want to just use water rated PCV.

Does anyone know where to get 1/4" clear not yellow fuel safe tubing?

Also what ID/OD is the SU jet tubing since I want to replace that as well as add a float level tube.

Google is yer friend. It says it's non-hardening which is usually what causes the yellowing.

just a thought but usually when gas lines turn yellow its because they dry out like mentioned earlier, and weather tends to eat away at them over time ( color distortion, stiffness, cracking) Ive experienced this alot on dirtbikes but i know you can purchase gas lines that are totally resistand to all this at places like your local hardware store, or automotive store. On my bike now i have some clear blue gas line ( purchased at a hardware store i believe) that really stands out and has done great resisting weather, dryness, heat, and tearing ( this stuff is strong). Search around, ask people questions at the stores and ull find it

I was told by the guy at Ace Hardware that standard PVC hose will disolve if I use it as a fuel line? The guy at OSH Hardware did not know for sure either so that is why I was looking for fuel grade clear : )

I am doing my heater hose in clear as well with a drain.

Anyone know what ID/OD of the small SU carb jet hose is off hand?

One more question I noticed that the metal Fuel rail on my 240 has a return? line on it. All of the side draft carb set ups I have seen do not use this rail and the return line. I have even seen alot of SU's without the fuel rail and return line on them.

Anyone know if capping it and not using it will have negative effects?

According to Ztherapy, this is a bad thing to eliminate. If the needle valve in the float bowl becomes stuck open or leaks it can create a rich condition or even worse, such as leaking from the nozzle into the combustion chamber or air cleaner, resulting in a build up of fuel in the crankcase or possibly a fire if it makes it into the air cleaner, which could drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.

The return line will flush away over heated fuel that is in the line caused by the heat of the header or maifold. The fuel line that runs form the float to he bottom of the carb is close to the exhost manifold or header , and there is a great amount of heat I would think twice about using plastic in this location. Also this hose is critical in the workings of the nozzle in it's travel up and down. This is why it is not recommended to use parts store hose there because it is too stiff . When this small fuel line becomes stiff and or brittle it can cause the nozzle to bind . When this happens the choke is sticking when shut off and your fuel mixture goes to hell and so does the mileage. Nissan and Ztherapy have the small rubber fuel line . Do not fall for the temptation and use vacuum line for this . A fire is likely if the hose fails and sends fuel on the hot manifold. There is gasoline rated fuel line at the hobby shops . Some of he large model air plaine engines run on gasoline. Do not use line made for other types of fuel , ask specificly for gasoline rated. one more thing the fuel rail has a metering hole at the end of its return line where it connects to the rubber line. This is there to help maintain fuel pressure. Gary

I do buy alot of my own supplies there, however, since I get a 25% discount. 250psi fuel injection line for $1.49 per foot. Can't beat it. I'll look into the gasoline rated clear fuel line next time I'm at work.

Just becuse a hose is rated for gasoline , it may not take the heat that is in a engine compartment. What will work safely on a cycle may me a disaster under the hood. Fuel rated or not , plastic is plastic and it melts at a much lower temp than rubber line. my 5c Gary

The hose from the float bowl to the carb nozzle is made of silicone, or silicone rubber (so i'm told) very soft, flexible, thin walled, and heat resistant. Accept no substitutes. If Nissan can't supply it, ZTherapy can.

I'd be careful about using clear plastic tubing, even if it is rated for gasoline. As others have mentioned, it may not stand up to the temperatures under the hood. Not worth the risk of having your Z go up in flames...
