Fender mounted mirrors

To be honest, I was hoping you'd say that :D

I finally managed to get the fender mirrors for my Skyline that I was supposed to get when buying the car, the PO sent them to me.

Being the Z was my only basis for comparison I had to ask here. :D

Now I know for sure the part numbers are not the same and that I may have actual Nissan mirrors. So I'm happy.

I've attached a picture incase you're interested.

I have to fabricate some new mounting bolts as the old ones were rusted up and promptly broke whilst trying to remove the nut.

If they look familiar to you, please by all means let me know.

And thanks again for your help.

Argh, not the same as the Z mirrors... the mirror head of the Z mirrors is round and not squared off like yours.

I was going to take a pic, but my camera battery is dead.. I'll try to remember to post one in the morning.:ermm:

They could still be Nissan mirrors, but they aren't the same as what I have...

Has anybody heard of "Napoleon" mirrors (made in Japan).

I took these off an early 240 I wrecked, but mounted on the doors. They're bullet shaped with a big round mirror and I don't know if they are original option or not.

Thanks Alfadog,

I have a bundle of comparison pictures and had already come to the conclusion they weren't actual C110 mirrors, the stalks aren't quite as long, but they're fairly close for the time being the main purpose of my asking was to determine whether there were part numbers on Nissan Fender Mirrors.

I also have some pictures of the actual chrome ones for the C110, just the mirrors not actually on a car and mine aren't the same as those either, as those look the same as the GTR ones except chrome and not black.

I've got about 300 different C110 images not counting, your car, my car or jmt240kgtrs' car. However, I don't have the one you posted. Depending how much you have, would you be willing to zip and email? Or if you know a good place to find some I'd love to know it.

Incase you're interested, the part number for the GT C110 fender mirrors is

96301 R4600 R/H

96302 R4600 L/H

And they were an optional item, I wished more people optioned to have them. :ermm:

Actually Alan you are finally wrong about something.

If a mirror is really close to you on the door, or futher away, on the front fender, doesnt make much difference. When looking in a mirror your focal point it not the distance of the mirror from the eye, but the distance from your eye, to the mirror, and then to to object you are looking at in the mirror.

If there was an object 10 meters infront of you and and object 10 meters behind you, your eyes would not need to change focus much at all. Just to compensate for the extra distance between you and the mirror. So if the mirror was half a meter away you would be focusing on something that appeared futher away (10.5 meters). Its not like looking at the road ahead, then looking at you speedo.

The advantage of fender mounted mirrors are not having to turn your head as much to look in the mirrors. and because they are further away you get a wider field of view, reducing the "blind spot" which is when theres is a car beside you, but you cant see it in the mirror because the field of view is too narrow to see it.

KTELLER, those mirrors in the pic are Fairlady Z items. Ive seen those exact mirrors on a japanese 1978 fairlady Z (S30 style not 280zx).

Ahh, excellent Mr. C, I'll investigate that. Just to make sure, you are meaning the black ones and not the chrome, right?
