Posted November 25, 200519 yr comment_147213 Ive been a fan of the z cars for many years, and have looked at several, until, i decided to buy one. Its a 73 thats in pretty good shape, considering i know very little abou the car's history, other than the same fellow has owned it for about the last 10 years. lemme see if i cna get some pictures to work: You can see more pictures in my galleries at http://carpron.com/multisite/v/Upload/A5295/ Over look that hitch that he "made to fit" on the car-its nwo been removed, and ive gone toward soem bigger and better things with the car. I am tryng to learn as much as i can, especially considering this is the first car ive ever owned that i havent had what some would call the luxury of efi, but i really liek thae carb setup-i just need to learn a LOT more about them. Im sure i'll be asking questions, so be ready. Ive even got one now-does anyone know what kind of wheels those are? TIA for the welcome... -Michael Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18141-mynew-acquisition/ Share on other sites
November 25, 200519 yr comment_147217 Hi Michael, welcome to the club.It sure looks like you've got a nice Z car there. A little spit & polish oughta make it look sharp! What shape is the interior in? What are your future plans for the car?I'm not sure about the brand of rims, but I've always liked that classic slotted mag style on a Z. November 28, 200519 yr Author comment_147653 hte interior is in decent shape... Its got one good crack in the dash, and the seats are a bit rough... most of the interior is all there-it just needs a really thourough cleaning. Im probably gonna do a lot like what you have already done. My first challenge is to get the carbs straightened out (running really rich, and being REALLY cold-natured), then its gonna be suspension work-its in dire need of bushings/struts/springs. How do you like the tokico springs and struts? Which urethane bushings do you have? November 28, 200519 yr comment_147655 Ive even got one now-does anyone know what kind of wheels those are?Hard to say without a closer look. That style wheel was made by many different companies. But the center caps look like they might be Appliance. Do they have a big stylized "A" in the middle? November 29, 200519 yr Author comment_147727 Thanks for the big welcome guys... The hitch is already gone I'll see if i can post some pictures... bear in mind that ive cleaned a lot of the mess up under the hood... it runs better, but its still running reaaaly ruch. Can anyone tell from the pictures if im right in saying that i have round top SU's? I have been told that the car had a header, cam, and a set of webers on it at one time, but i dont think any of those items are present. Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated... Thanks everyone! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18141-mynew-acquisition/#findComment-147727 Share on other sites
November 29, 200519 yr comment_147731 Welcome to the board. Definitely round tops, Hitachi made. Looks like the 3 screw wide tab version. Not the stock flat(junk) tops it came with. Check out www.ztherapy.com for more info and parts. Can't see the exhaust well enough to say if there are headers on it. November 29, 200519 yr comment_147734 Exhaust looks like stock cast iron manifold, complete with the pre-heater tube. Not a header. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18141-mynew-acquisition/#findComment-147734 Share on other sites

November 29, 200519 yr Author comment_147740 Im gonna do some resto work, and some mods... prolly gonna keep it carb'd-no swapsmaybe some mild valvetrain work, and soem bolt-ons. I want to have a reliable, hard running car that i can drive every day, and autocross from time to time. The big thing i want to install is a small roll cage with a harness bar and a set of better seats. HTe seat belt retractors have almost completely died, and i want to be safe when im out enjoying the car.Im also gonna install a blaupunkt cd player that ive got at the house, but ive gotta get everything together to install it, including looking up how to mount it in the dash. Anyone got any links thaey can point me to? thanks again everyone! November 29, 200519 yr comment_147743 Hi Michael,I like the Tokico struts & springs a lot, definitely made a big improvement in the way my Z rides & handles! I replaced the bushings with an Energy Suspension Hyperflex urethane bushing kit. I bought both the struts/springs and the bushing kit on e-bay.
