This is an increasingly common scam. They take pictures of cars being sold (on ebay and otherwise - sometimes even asking for MORE pictures) and then sell it again later - but now it's mysteriously in another country. scam scam scam

Have seen this type of scam a couple of times recently. One was a Corvette, and the other was a Challenger R/T. Both stated that they were having trouble with their ebay/contact button, so instead to contact them via a different email account. Both also stated a "Buy it Now" in the auction description, but not did not have the buy it now button up top. The "Buy it Now" price was very low. The Mopar was in Austria.

It seems not only have these people ripped pics from previous auctions, they have also temprorarily hijacked user ID's from unsuspecting Ebay users. Hence the "contact thru ebay is not working" statement, followed by a seperate email. The Dodge I mentioned caught my eye because the vehicle's location seemed to be 15 minutes away. After an shooting an email to the address the seller listed, I received a reply saying the car was in Austria, and could be shipped to anywhere in the USA if "buy it now" was used. The entire cost of the Dodge Challenger R/T convertible including shipping would have been $6500. Yeah right. The email response basically looked like a form letter with my name inserted.

Anyway, I guess the best thing to do in a case like this is to contact the seller via the actual account contact instead of the address listed. This will at least make the actual account owner aware he is being used.
