julioenr0103 Posted December 13, 2005 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2005 Can anyone help me tell if either my car is a 240Z or a 280Z, it is a pretty odd car, inside has the dash of a 280Z, the engine and tranny looks like the 240Z. The gas tank was a 240Z. also i found an ecu on the car. By know the car is half & half, jajaja.:stupid:
AChev Posted December 13, 2005 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2005 Well what is the vin number?
Virto Posted December 14, 2005 Share #3 Posted December 14, 2005 Might have more than one VIN, , if that dash came from a 280. Check the firewall stamp and let us know, we'll get you straightened out.
bpilati Posted December 14, 2005 Share #4 Posted December 14, 2005 Look at the frame rails. They are long on the 280Z. The 280Z bumpers are completely different.
beandip Posted December 14, 2005 Share #5 Posted December 14, 2005 in the engine compartment , on the firewall just left of the master cylinder there should be a series of numbers and letters stamped into the firewall. Tell us what they are . This is the vin number .:rambo: add your location to the profile. is this a right or left hand drive?
Fun_in_my_z Posted December 14, 2005 Share #6 Posted December 14, 2005 Gee and i thought my car had problems!Whats the production date?
monkeyman Posted December 14, 2005 Share #7 Posted December 14, 2005 We don't have 280Zs here, but you can tell a 240Z from a 260Z by the tail-lights. The reverse lights are separate from the others on the 260Z. The same might apply for the 280Z.Other obvious things are:badgesare there rear seats (the 240Z didn't have a '2+2' model)?bumpers are different, I think, aswell.flutes in the bonnet (sorry, 'hood'), the these are not original on the 240Z but might have been fitted by the owner.monkeyman
julioenr0103 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Share #8 Posted December 15, 2005 thanks, hmm the dash VIN# HLS30 216985, but then again as Virto said it might have other numbers...for the bumpers well it only has one in the front, the rear bumper was removed and then the holes where covered by bondo, jaja also I've found I have an L26 engine with SU carbs, jaja. I'll check the firewall, and post on friday night, jeje since the car is not completely legal and is currently at mexico jajaja, border cities.... AChev Posted December 15, 2005 Share #9 Posted December 15, 2005 I believe a vin in the 216 hundred thounsand should be a 260Z right? if that is indeed the correct vin
yoogener Posted December 16, 2005 Share #10 Posted December 16, 2005 240Z from 280Z?compare the bumpers, location of turn signal lights, or the tailights.280Z bumpers ::i think:: have shocks in the rear for improved safety so the bumper sticks out more.280Z turn signal lights are located in the grill, whereas the 240Z turn signals are bigger and located under the bumper.
