toecutter Posted January 2, 2006 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2006 I'm thinking of getting some fairladyZ badges for my car. Which cars were badged with this badge? From memory I thought that only cars in Japan had the fairladyZ badge on it. Did they call all Z's in Japan fairladys?CheersSulio
Kiwi ZX+Zed Posted January 3, 2006 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2006 Heya toecutter, yep, only the JDM (japanese domestic model) had the Fairlady Z badging, they called em 240z,260z,280z and 280zx for the american market for the most part, being that yanks would never buy a car named a "Fairlady Z"Is that your Z in the pic, very nice,im doing the ZG look with my Fairlady Z i just aquired,it has the G nose so i may aswell go whole hog on it.Have you got any close ups of your flares,as im looking to make some but need a good look before i make a template up.Cheers and hope that helps
sblake01 Posted January 3, 2006 Share #3 Posted January 3, 2006 From what I have read and seen, it was Mr. K himself that didn't think names like Fairlady, Sunny, Violet, Bluebird, etc. would work in the U.S. where we had names like Mustang, Bronco, Charger, Magnum, etc. Kind of a macho thing, I guess. Mr Camouflage Posted January 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted January 3, 2006 JDM also got fairladys badged as Fairlady 240Z or Fairlady 280Z when they had the bigger engines.

In the early 60's (hack maybe even 1960) He tried in vain to keep them from even shipping the cars with the Bluebird badges, resulting to meeting the shippments at the Long Beach docks with cases of "Datsun 1000" truck emblems to replace the "Bluebirds"
Fun_in_my_z Posted January 3, 2006 Share #6 Posted January 3, 2006 I would love to have a full set of fairlady badges for my car. Where could a guy find em? Besides Japan of course
Ripper Posted January 4, 2006 Share #7 Posted January 4, 2006 You can often find Fairlady badges on ebay motors. They aren't cheap, but they are brand new and of high quality. Im thinking about decking my 240z out with Fairlady badges aswell.

toecutter Posted January 4, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted January 4, 2006 Thanks guys, wow good comprehensive response. I would'nt care that the badges are plastic so thanks for the contact sblake01. I do have a friend thats got a couple of steel ones he's gonna try and make some plastic copies of, but $69.00 sounds ok if that does'nt work out for me. I thought 3 would look good. 1 on each side with 1 placed on the flat part of the rear BRE fin spoiler I'm about to fit.Kiwi ZX+Zed Heya toecutter, yep, only the JDM (japanese domestic model) had the Fairlady Z badging, they called em 240z,260z,280z and 280zx for the american market for the most part, being that yanks would never buy a car named a "Fairlady Z"Is that your Z in the pic, very nice,im doing the ZG look with my Fairlady Z i just aquired,it has the G nose so i may aswell go whole hog on it.Have you got any close ups of your flares,as im looking to make some but need a good look before i make a template up.Cheers and hope that helps Hi Kiwi ZX+Zed,Yer thats my car, just got the flares on recently, picked them up from a member here called Zkid. I have'nt got any real close pics of the flares prior to fitment but if you have a look in my gallery there are a few pics I've taken pretty close to the car. Zkid had one set on hand that I bought but I'm not sure if he's making any more up. Try out the guy on the link below(Ashley), he's making them and selling them but he's pretty laid back and he's got a set lying around. I'm sure he will give you some real close up pics whilst they're off the car to guide you. http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=331Nice car, seeing you've already got the g-nose the ZG flares would finish off the look quite nicely and I'm guessing you would'nt see many complete ZG looking cars in NZ as we don't see here in Oz. I know you guys get a lot of imports, did you buy the car from Japan or local?Thank youSulio
Kiwi ZX+Zed Posted January 5, 2006 Share #12 Posted January 5, 2006 Heya toecutter Cheers for that info buddy, ill try them links for sure, dont really want to have to make my own,but atleast anyone else who wants some can have the moulds. I bought this one here in NZ.....for a very very good price....$500!! All it needs to get a wof is to get the headlights going and the horn, but now its stripped for the next year. I pulled the nose off and its in good shape, just needs a crack redone. The only part i need for this car body wise is the left hand plate where the headlight mounds and the original grill mounting brackets sit on,its cheesed out with the dreaded Z cancer we all know, but the rest of the car is mint/cherry for a Z,yeah its a 77 but its still a Z,which means nearly everyone over here has rolled, bowled and arseholed most Z's you will find, the only mod this thing had was a pod filter, lolol!Just the way i like em,clean slate to start with. Its almost down to metal now,was going to give it a acid bath, but heard a few stories on that way of going....pass. Anyone know where to get some window rubber for the front and back,i cut the rear glass out cause i didnt want to bust it....i have no spares for this model. Again TC,****in sweet Z mate...its the best ive seen believe that
