71 clutch repair ?

Hey, new to the sight.

I'm the proud owner of a 1971 240 Z

I'm looking to replace the clutch on my Z. I purchased a Centerforce 2 clutch kit. Containing: Pressure plate , clutch , throwout bearing and aligning tool.

I'm doing the job out of a CHILTON repair manual.:nervous:

I didn't know if I should cut the flywheel or replace it?

Any info would be extremely helpful..

Only reason to replace the flywheel would be if it is bad, or if you want a lighter one. Otherwise I'd just have it resurfaced.

If you want a lighter flywheel, try to find a used one from a 810/Maxima. It's about 6 pounds lighter, I've heard.

On another note if you ever plan to put any real power to your vehicle you may want to rethink the centerforce clutch, they are about as good for as far as you can throw them.
