brake lights revisited

my 71 240z only has one brake light working. the bulbs have been checked, they're both good. the driver side light doesn't work at all. the passenger side does, except when the turn signal switch is turned to the right, then the light goes out. (the turn signals don't work either). i'm getting a new turn signal switch, will that fix the problem? or is the problem in the wiring?

Tell us a little bit about the situation. Did this occur as a result of some other work on your car? Or, did it start performing like this out of the blue?

If you did some other work on the car... I'd say your answer might be to put the work back to the original configuration and try to see if that fixes your problem.

But, if it just started doing this... replace all your bulbs and check the fuses again. In fact, don't just look at the fuse... pull it out and check it with an OHM meter.

as long as I've had the car, it hasn't worked (I got the car last week). I've done nothing to change it. Like I said, I have checked the fuses. not just visually, with a multimeter, i checked for both continuity and resistance.

Have you obtained a Factory Shop Manual, or ANY manual of any sort?

Have you run down the wiring?

Have you checked for continuity on the wiring?

Have you checked for a possible short to ground?

And last but not least, Have you checked the fuses?

All of the above are BASIC questions, but yes, as much of a PITA as they seem, they bite people over and over again.

I've seen people post here and on other forums: I've Checked and rechecked and checked again, so DON'T ANYONE tell me to CHECK THE D@MN FUSE AGAIN.

Only to see a new post a few days later, FOUND MY PROBLEM!!! It was the fuse.

So, hehe, as obnoxious and these guys are just telling me to go away, it is a KNOWN problem with the Z's. Not only check the fuse, check the fuse holder, make sure the metal is nice and bright. Make sure the connection to the fuse holder itself from the wiring below is tight. Check connections. We could go on and ON, and you will most often find that ,,,,,ooops, it's a simple fuse.

I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSE!!! you can bet a million dollars on it, it isn't the fuse!

where would i check the wires? i can only barely reach the connectors in the back, and i don't know where they go from there.
