January 15, 200619 yr comment_152154 Assuming you can get to the contact point of the gearshift lever (it is a Datsun tranny?). I installed the MSA one with just the center console removed. The hardest part was getting the leverage to slip the rubber cover over the base of the lever where it mounts to the transmission, due to the narrow hole in the floor, but the rest of it was pretty easy.Well worth the effort! The short shifter requires a little more effort (the leverage is less favorable), but its utility is well worth it.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18565-installing-short-shifter/#findComment-152154 Share on other sites
January 15, 200619 yr Author comment_152155 It has the original 4-speed gearbox. Is it easier to slip the rubber cover over the base from beneath when the car is on jack stands? January 15, 200619 yr comment_152165 Just installed the MSA kit last weekend, the boot is the toughest part, but very doable by just removing the console. January 16, 200619 yr comment_152211 The boot as all said before is yoru nemesis. Take care and time and all will come to you, easily done with the console removed. Just take your time so you dont lose anything, and curse yourself when you have to crawl under the car.
