January 22, 200619 yr comment_152935 I've been lucky, so far my Z has not been a target. It is always garaged at home, and I don't drive it out all that often. But I've had a few problems in the past with other vehicles.Came out of a local tavern, one I frequented a bit in my younger days, to find that someone had backed into the front of the '91 Ford Probe I drove at the time and left a nice dent and a broken turn signal lens.I found someone's load of chew spat upon my '91 Cadillac Allante which was parked at a meter on the street downtown. The '95 Ford F150 was egged once, while parked out front of my house. Most recently, someone threw a rock through both side windows of my work vehicle, a '04 Trailblazer, which was parked out front of the house. I have a Fujitsu computer mounted on a stand in the vehicle, but it wasn't taken. I have several cell phones mounted in the vehicle too, and none of them was taken either. January 22, 200619 yr comment_152940 At first I thought "Do I even want to open this thread" Thinking it was going to be some immature nasty joke People can be such disrespectful Pigs The scary thing is maybe he wasnt drunk or on drugs. Maybe who ever did it was dropped on there head when they were little? Don't worry as he probably sh!t out whatever brains he had left. I had my daily driver which is also a really nice car get bumped where I work and he cracked the chrome impact strip that goes around the bumper and scratched/scuffed the paint something terrible. To make it worse, this happened AFTER I just got done having that rear bumper repainted due to a couple small faded spots I wanted fixed. MAN was I furious. I had to go down and have it all redone again at my expense as this was a "hit and run" situation. Talk about being pissed  and people where I work wonder why they never get to see my Classic Z. Gee I wonder why :stupid: Just be glad it was something that could be cleaned off and no damage occured to your Z. I know it still pisses ya off though. January 24, 200619 yr comment_153185 Heard about a bloke who had a '72 240Z.The word "DATSUN" was ripped off both mudguards. (Fenders). All other badges etc. were PRISED off with a screwdriver or similar instrument, leaving scratches and dents. The hatch was JIMMYED open.A quarter inch wide scratch ran down BOTH sides of the car.The above was done IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, CENTRE PARKED IN THE MAIN STREET OF TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Of course, nobody saw anything. If I caught anyone doing that to my "Precious", ..................Rick.:devious: :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18625-this-is-vulgar-read-at-your-own-discretion/?&page=2#findComment-153185 Share on other sites
January 24, 200619 yr Author comment_153192 These things are unfortunate, and I am glad nothing permanant was done to my car. I am sorry to hear what has happened to some of your peoples cars. I will never understand why people do any type of vandalism whether it is to a car, house, etc. I know that these things happen, but I am now even more paranoid about parking my car in public places. I know it is just a car, but like all of you, I like it as much as anyone could like a car. This is the first time anything has happened to my Z, but I have had a few other cars get broken into for stereos. I am so paranoid about the Z getting broken into because it is so much harder to fix, and not as many people are willing to fix it. This is off topic, but over my winter break, one of my neighbors ran into my car while it was parked. The damage was not that bad, but I had three estimates and two places said outright that they would not fix the car. I had to go to a restorer to get the dent fixed and painted. I am not sure how much the car is worth to my insurance company, so I have no idea how much it would take to total my car. I daily drive it, so that is a scary thought at times. I don't think about it much, but that is why I am so careful with this car and where I park/drive it. I cannot stand driving my car in San Francisco during rush hour. People seem to not care about their cars and other peoples cars as much as they used to. So many people are in such a rush these days. I don't know how I got onto this tangent.-Ben p.s. The fender is fixed and it does look a little different in color compared to the rest of the car. Overall, I am happy with the work though.p.p.s. Ken, the Allante was an extremely hot car when it first came out. Its impact was bigger than the XLR at the time. I still have a respect for the Allante's. The body was designed by Pininfarina, and weren't they partly assembled in Italy? I have only heard that they are not that reliable. Is there any truth to that? It is still a very nice car. January 24, 200619 yr comment_153199 I get up one sunday morning looked out the front window. There is something sitting on my Z. I look closer it is a glass of water. I go out to see what the hecks going on. Next to it is a bottle of Aspirin with a note under it. Reads" Jim before you look at the other side of your car you had better take a couple of these.Roy" As he left to go to work at three in the morning he hit the drivers door with his bumper. It was repaired and we remained friends until I moved. Sure had me going at first. January 24, 200619 yr comment_153268 The family car, (maybe I should say HER car), is a '04 Ford Falcon Fairmont.Last August I walked out of the shopping complex to find someone had busted the Fords l/r tail light and damaged the mudguard in the process. As you can imagine, I was a bit angry but I thought, "Oh, well, that's par for the course when parking in shopping centre car parks". Got the quotes, got it fixed, end of story. Now, if that was to happen to "Precious", I'd be so angry I'd be out for blood, wanting to rip someone's arms off and shove them you know where. The market value of the Ford is a lot more than that of the Datsun. However, how do you place the value of the very real blood, sweat and tears, not to mention the hard cash, that has gone into making "Precious" the true beauty that she is today ?????Who among our members can honestly say they place more personal value on any other vehicle you have over the Zed that you have lovingly restored ????????????Rick.:devious: :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18625-this-is-vulgar-read-at-your-own-discretion/?&page=2#findComment-153268 Share on other sites
