LOL this just in from the University Of Nebraska world championship ESCAPA challenge. New longest time of 48.359. I think we can hit a minute before 3:00 am. I think the key is to not really even watch the blue squares but to focus on the empty white space and your perifery will take over! try it, it works!

Ok I tried it 3 times with a real mouse and got 17.86.

38.422 secs. :smoke:

The 'action' of the squares wasn't very smooth (possibly related to 56K Dial Up conncection?) and I think that helped me last as long as I did.

Looks like a Java app that runs locally so speed will be dependent on your system resources, not connection speed.

I love this game! But there is something weird going on here. I tried playing this game with the office pc which was a bit slow in terms of specs with a 512 kbs dsl speed. In the first 5 minutes I was able to get it up to 39.2 sec but as soon as I arrived home I decided to play it again on my pc which was much faster and with a 1 mbps dsl line but I only managed 23 seconds and I can't seem to beat it! Whats up with that?

I guess it's about the internal components of the actual system. I first played it on my old windows system, via cable broadband, that doesn't have a graphics card and a decent, but small amount of memory, and an older celeron processor. It was running slow enough for me to get 71 seconds. I realized this and switched to my g4 mac that has a gig of memory, graphics, ect. on the same connection and was only able to hit 24.

I'm also on a "cable Connection" and my computer is pretty fast for what it's worth. After I played 4 times at an average 18.635 secs each, I stopped focusing on the blue and blurred my vision a bit (kindof tunnel vision) and pulled a 33.746 on a high speed connection.

I love stuff like this. Until ya stop and every thing looks like blue squares. And I'm driving a RED Z!NOT good when you go driving right afterwards :stupid:

Just worked for me? Maybe it went down for a bit.

Here... try again.

After the initial dodge, I found it easier to hang out in the middle but then again I've only gotten as far as the mid to high 20's.

Damn....I got up to 183.203 seconds after about 2-3 tries. Must be AIR FORCE material....(he he) I'll see about doing a screen capture next time around and post the image to see if I can top my old score....

You can't actually compare times on different computers. The best I can do at work is ~28sec. The best I can do at home is ~27sec (same spot gets me). The best I can do on my friend's slightly slower computer ~38sec (still getting killed at the same spot, but I could do better b/c the squares are moving slightly slower)

Edit: The connection speed may have something to do with it as well. But you can get a pretty good tournament going at work where everyone has the same connection and basically the same PC. I also found out that it's a little slower on FireFox than IE.
