I checked both the FSM and my Haynes... neither gave a good basic dimension to set the hood spring/pin at such that the hood shuts nicely when you close it... I spent 45min adjusting it in and then back out again with no improvements whatsoever... Can someone who's hood does close nicely give me that basic dimension? At least then I will know if I am way off or what...

Mine is 2-3/4".

Maybe the hood stops are set too high? Back them off, then play with the latch. When the latch is OK, then bring the stops up to give a little resistance.
