Too much juice for my starter?

I have a 240z with a 77 280z engine and after i put this engine in to get it running I used a marine battery i had laying around, it worked good so why change a good thing? Anyways my starter has gone out, could this battery be too strong or was my ol' starter just on it's last thread?

I have got a new starter and i don't want to screw it up.

A marine battery has no way to damage your starter. Don't sweat it.
