Hi there! I am new to this forum and wanted to share with you my '78 280z. She is in need of a lot of TLC and I am looking forward to the project. The restoration began this week! Here is the first round of photos:

The car next to mine is a '72 240z also currently being restored.

Enjoy!

Alissa

I think I am going to paint it a darker silver. I'd like to keep most of the car as original as I can... even by doing the rust repair on the doors and fenders instead of replacing them with parts in better condition. I know it's going to be a lot more work, but it is my first project car!

G'Day there alissa,

Make use of the SEARCH feature on this site. If there's anything you need to know you'll probably find it there. If not, posting a question in the appropriate forum will gain all the advice and assistance you could wish for.

Welcome to the club,

Rick.

Hi Alissa, welcome to the club. Looks like a good project Z car there! From the photos you linked it doesn't look like anything too major to deal with. But, beware the rust that lurks in all the nooks & crannies! Be sure to tackle all the rust issues you find. I like to use a product called RustMort, there are other products out there that work just as good.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome to the board. Restoration can definintely be an enjoyable and rewarding process if you take your time and plan it out in advance. Will you be doing any of the work yourself?

Thanks! Yes, I will do doing as much work as I can myself. My boyfriend has a fabrication shop and does work on Z's, including his own '72 240. So this is a great project for us to work on together. He is teaching me as much as he can because I know have little knowledge about cars, but I am willing to learn... even to weld!

Ohhh, YES !!!!

Isn't it GREAT to meet a woman who doesn't mind, (perhaps even ENJOYS), getting down and DIRTY.

Make sure you have a good supply of bandaids girl, you'll probably need 'em.

Might be worthwhile for any of our members living in that area to make note of the fact that Alissa's lesser half has experience in Zed work.

His website is http://www.autosportfab.com. I am a wesite designer and do the work on his site myself. He gives the best deals to Z owners, so anyone in the CT area be sure to check it out, or even swing by to see our Z cars!
