Underwent 17 weeks of Basic Infantry and Advanced heavy weapons training just South of Naptown in a defense department recreation area known as Camp Atterbury. This was during the Korean war (police action!). Don't know how the defense department manages to find such training areas!! The 31st Dixie Division (Infantry) DD was located there. The division band marched thru the area at 5:00 am every morning waking everyone to the tune of "Dixie"

Best time was a weekend pass to Naptown to the old "Circle Theater" well known for vaudville and burlesque. Korea was even worse than Atterbury. The targets shot back!!

Thanks for your service Ken. I was at Atterbury, as a private contrctor when Shack and awe was being rolled into place. Atterbury is still a training post, tanks, air craft, high power rifle range, etc.. It is used in the war as logistics depot. The Men I was working with were about to leave for Iraq. One guy and I became friends, and we were talking one day. He said he and his wife were waiting until he came home to start a family. Before I left I gave him a picture of my baby boy and told him my son was his too, please carry him with you, and know we appreciate your sacrifice...He's back there for the second time now, but doing well.

Hey John, I'm from the Mishawaka (Southbend area) and have been a long time lurker on this site. I've owned a 75 280 since 1981. It had been in storage till recently. My son and I have just started disassembly. The plan is to restore and MILDLY customize it. Our other car (the wife's) is a 78 280 that she has owned since 79. She bought it right after she got out of H. school. It's in storage at the moment but the plan its to restore to stock condition eventualy.

Well then we are closer neighbors than I thought. I use the Indianapolis label because I am fairly sure that the folks who visit here from Australia, New Zeland, Japan, Britain, etc at least know where that is.

I actually live in Lebanon as well. I am originally from Zionsville, but moved north because I couldn't afford to buy a house in my home town after all the rich folks moved in and took over.

You aren't the guy who was driving the REALLY rusted out ZX around last fall are you?
