Hey John! How are ya mate?! I gotta point out there is a BIG difference between Alans' phrase "being laid into" (copping a hiding/ gettin'a beltin', American idiom equivalent; Whalin' on 'im:laugh: ) and being "laid" or getting Ben Dover:laugh: .... have I just earnt the title Captian Obvious:nervous: ?

Sometimes it's bloody hard to get the jest/ innocence or well meaning intent of a post across in type. You just have to hope the interpretation is read as the intent:geek:

...Well, here's me bus! I'll be off now. Hoo Roo!!

Actually Alan, I don't think you were getting "laid" in this thread. I think the proper American idiom is, "Getting bent over." :-)

The largest real estate group around here where I live is Dover Realty and I swear the owner's name is Ben. On his signs it say's Ben Dover RealtyLOL

OK, OK! Another true story... We had a guy that raced a sedan named Harold D**k. NO ONE dared to call him Harry. Did the NY guy ever post a pic of his cooler? I wonder where they mounted the cooler. I bet it was in front of the rad.

Where do they mount the turbo coolers? In front of the rf tire but where? Anyone have a pic of this cooler? I am thinking of putting one on my '71. I would not like to have it in front of the rad. NE1 do one of these coolers?

Well... this might get me in trouble with the local Solo2 club, but I haven't run with them for a while so I guess its time the mystery is solved. For about two years a local competitor named Richard "Dikk" Weenis has sporadically shown up on the registration form and the worker signup sheets.

He has often been paged over the loud speaker system to check in for his worker assignment and for a 4 hour period during the Night of the Living Dead event Dikk had the fastest time of the day. Dikk has also been called to the timing and scoring motorhome. He was even paged at the San Diego National Tour!

Richard "Dikk" Weenis is a mythical member of Team Rusty Old Datsun.

EDIT: This nasty word filter is stupid.

My first job was in Seattle at Boeing. We had a payroll 'numbers' game that everyone played. They posted the winner's name the day after payday. I remember one of the winners was a guy named Thomas Hawk.

One more... I had a counselee in St. Louis who's first name was TRASHIMA. Now what do you think her nickname was? Trashi!

How can these parents do this to their kids?

OK... That's enough of this nonsense!

And here we go again... American idioms do not apply , as people from outside America sometimes actually do use the internet - it behoves us all to show a little tolerance and understanding when dealing with other cultures.

(and in Australia, getting "laid into", means being <what's the American term?>, being "beat up on").

Alan, I understood what you meant.

Not to burst anyone's idea of what's what in America, but getting ''laid'' into means exactly the same thing in the U.S., so maybe we should get back on track. Without pictures from the orignal poster this all is getting a little off track. Let's see the oil cooler photos. Thanks for the info from those like Alan and Carl and everyone who had something of actual value to add to our knowledge on the subject.
