Posted February 19, 200619 yr comment_156595 Hey guys, quick question. Was going to paint some suspension parts today. Not going to replace the springs but wondered about painting them with eastwood rust encapsulator and chassis black. Think the paint will hold or flake? Thanks in advance. February 20, 200619 yr comment_156748 i dont think paint will stick well to springs, it would chip off. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18954-painting-springs-quick-question/#findComment-156748 Share on other sites
February 20, 200619 yr comment_156749 You could try getting a paint that's meant for use on plastic, because it's meant to flex. I think Krylon has some sort of plastic-oriented paint that you could try. Maybe ask your local hardware store, I'm sure they have something. February 20, 200619 yr comment_156750 I'd say POR-15 or maybe power coat them puppy's. POR-15 will flex and bend with the spring. Should not have to worry about them ever again after that....webdawg1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18954-painting-springs-quick-question/#findComment-156750 Share on other sites
February 20, 200619 yr comment_156752 I have used this stuff for years to cover tool handles and restore spark plug jackets. It comes in an aerosol spray in a variety of colors.http://www.plastidip.com/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18954-painting-springs-quick-question/#findComment-156752 Share on other sites
February 21, 200619 yr Author comment_156791 Thanks for the replies guys, got to work on them on Sunday while cooking some ribs before the race. You know I needed some bones to throw at the TV. I hit them with the rust encapsulator spray can(after cleaning) and they turned out nice. I think that paiint is a little more flexible, so I was going to quit there. Now I think I am going to get the eibach springs from that guy on e-bay, so it was a wasted exercise anywayLOL Well not entirely, got the rest painted also(front x-member, moustache bar) and now on to the bushings. Y'all have a nice day, ya hear Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/18954-painting-springs-quick-question/#findComment-156791 Share on other sites
