Looking for your opinion

I used to own a 72 240z that was raced by Paul Newman in a kinda celebrity race @ Limerock. Or, atleast that was the information that I got when I bought the car. The car was mildly modified & ran out of the Bob Sharp Garage. Unfortunatly, I sold the car & have been looking for years for the right car. I think that I found one in Maine of all places. She is a 1973 240z with 53,000 original miles. Dash is perfect, body is close, but has a two or three quarter size bubbles in the two year old paint. The owner put about three thousand dollars into new floor boards and some bottom work. We have settled on 7,800 bucks including a near complete parts car with a motor that has 65,000 miles. We have not solidified the deal as of yet because the car is burried in a barn with about 20 other cars. My plans are to get it down to my mechanic and put it on a lift for a couple hours. I have not even driven the car yet, but do you think that this sounds like a fair deal or should I keep on looking. I would much rather buy a car from arizona or cali, but that is difficult as I live in Maine. She is orange with black interior. Interior is near perfect. I am planning, either with this car or another to run up the H.P. to about 270 with a stroker kit, put on some panasports, four wheel disc brakes and coil over at all four corners. What do you think?

I think that after you get her on the lift and get a good inspection of her you will be able to determine if the price is right. If that car was driven just one winter through the snow and salt she could be rusting from the inside out. As we all know the North Eastern cars are in very poor condition. I bought a 72 in Buffalo a couple of years ago the interior was in excellent shape but you couldn't find a body pannel without rust.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
