i borrowed my mother's ford focus ( a real head turner-NOT!:D ) for a few days and every time i get out and close the door i get a shock.i even try to use my thick leather jacket sleave to prevent it but it goes right through.why does this happen and how do stop it from happening? thankyou very much in advance.

P S it doesn't happen in my zed or any other vehicle.

newer tire compounds prevent static discharge.

diff tires can be better.

you could attach and drag a grounding strap.

what i do is keep my key in hand and touch a metal body part with it as i leave. the key takes the static 'hit' and discharges the jolt.
