Just got my new VB catalog in today....they are changing their name to Black Dragon Automotive. Plus, now they have a website that is worth a crap. It is here at www.blackdragonauto.com Same store, same prices, just a different name and a better website! Just though I'd give yall a heads up!

There are 3 divisions of Long Motor Company (the parent corporation)

Black Dragon sells Nissan and Mazda parts

Victoria British sells MG, Triumph, Austin Healy, and Sunbeam Tiger Parts

LMC Truck sells Chevrolet Pickup Truck, S10, Suburban and Chevy Blazer, GMC Pickup Truck, Sonoma, S15, Suburban and Jimmy, Ford Pickup Truck and Bronco parts

Always seemed stupid to me that I was ordering Datsun (Nissan) parts (ie a Japanese car) from a place called Victoria British.

I'm just not sure about the new name....

While Black Dragon is certianly better than Chartreuse Peanut-I think Victoria Japanese might have been a better fit, and kept the relationship to the parrent comapany clear.

"Black Dragon" is a sticker that belongs on the top of a winshield on a Ricer that has more fiberglass on it than a Glastron boat. I hope that the new name is deceiving, and that it is NOT related to the direction of the company.

blackdragon does seem a bit cheesy, but I will type in their explanation that is in my catalog:

"In 2006, here we grow again... Victoria British LTD introduces the new name of Black Dragon Automotive. As we continue to grow, you can look for the same high-quality automotive parts, great customer service, and overall convenience that all of our customers have benefited from in the past...now iwth a new name Black dragon Automotive."

The best parts mag name for Datsun parts was "Tweeks", remember them, now they sell Porsche parts, if they're even still in business.

My real consergn with the name change is more whether or not it is indicative of what happened to Number One Import Parts when they became NOPI, and began their Rice catering only...Not that that would not be a bad business move, but that it would lead to dropping the shrinking S30 market...

Looks like its just a marketing/image exercise. The VB site is still there, for european cars, and they have a truck parts site too.

Black Dragon Automotive is its aimed at asian cars, but it just sounds funny to me. not as funny as Fried Rice Automotive.

But seriously. Maybe we should give them a few suggestions on no-so-silly sounding names.

Rising Sun Automotive could have been a better choice, but its taken already. Far East Automotive?
