hey everyone

well actually i need pics of a special c110 gtr. it was the number 73 race version. if anyone can email me more pics of the grill or atleast front area, my friend at a body shop is going to try and replicate the front race grill and airdam before october where we will be entering my car in a show. i may be making a set of flares, airdam, and rear spoiler in carbon fiber if time permits.

pictures of this special will be greatly appreciated.

Were there two of these? one blue one green, or was it simply repainted?

Thankyou for bringing this up! Yes, from what I've seen there are two of these "Image cars" at least. I cannot imagine they would PAINT the original green one, especially in a new colour!! I do not think this is the case (though stranger things have happened...). I was then thinking that perhaps (and this is pure speculation) that there are two (at least) cars. The original, and then a replica more recently built, painted blue so as not to confuse it with the original.

But then you get pictures like this (attached). Sorry for the poor quality, but the idea is there. It's a reproduction of a car postcard from 1972 (these postcards seemed to be all the rage back then?) and the car is quite clearly blue.

So perhaps there were always two KPGC110 "Image cars". One green, one blue. The blue one looks restored in the recent pictures I've seen, so perhaps they restored one, and left the other (green) original?

Some possiblities at least.

Sorry Mikey,...but it is about the mystery KGC110 ('s?)

The big pic that also appears in my gallery is from the 1983 printing of "The SKYLINE: 25 years a symbol of quality (since 1957)" I bought it in 1984.

It seems to have been the reference picture for the kits (see pics below). I hadn't noticed the green car until I bought the 1/43 Kyosho version a year or two ago...and then I thought it was just a curious change by Kyosho. Now I see they also do a blue one that has been a lot harder to buy. A preferred version in Japan? It'd be good to know the whole story on these cars.

Now Mikey, what colour will yours be?

Jim.

wow!!!

You guys are so much help! very appreciated. will put all on disk and send to my body shop and see what we can do from there.....i wish i can do the full flare kit but i dont have wide enough wheels to fill it plus its pretty hard to get watanabes in that size and if i do...its gonna cost me half my body. i might end up doing the whole front end but not so agressive...maybe enough to match stock GTR flare....maybe a bit smaller airdam but everything else try to match. maybe someday when i get rich ill do the full flare kit and get wheels to match but as for now will try my best to get close to it and still look very clean...i will be still painting the car the goldish gunmetal color same as my engine bay...im sure it will look classic and clean. thanks all for the replys and pics

CHEERS!

mikey

heres a couple pics again of the color of my engine bay if you havent seen it yet.

Mikey

The wheels aren't as expensive as you might think....

Big old 14"x10 or bigger pop up on Yahoo Auctions Japan pretty often now... The hardest thing is IMO not to get the wheel but to find tires that will fit...

Maybe if you do track down the right set of wheels, you can find some slicks or something and mount those... It'll be your "show setup", after all I'm guessing once you're all done you'll be trailering this car all over the place and probably not driving it on the freeways of LA... or will you?

Last time I checked you could still also order just about any size/width direct from Watanabe and I seem to recall the bigger 14" and 15" wheels were something like $500-600 a pop.... Check at their website, my info could be outdated as it's been a while since I tried to find out...

I'll always regret the set of 15x10 front and 15x12 rears I missed out on eBay because at the time I was still on dial-up - like 6yrs ago and they were pictured on a red Z in Alaska of all places! Get this, the set SOLD for $750! aaaahhh I was sick to my stomache... hahahaha They had BFG drag tires on them as I recall... Was the only thing the guy could find... Had I gotten those, you can bet the Z would look somewhat different today... hahahaha

wow 15x10 fronts and 15x12 rears

wow i guess theres a lot of watanabes in alaska cus i got my set of watanabes on ebay from stony out in alaska as well and had 275-50 BFG drag slicks on them, it was also on a red 240z with an RB26dett motor. i actually sold him back the slicks for about $200. i still have the pics somewhere when they arrived to my home....hehehe when i put them on my 240z Gnose i couldnt even set the car all the way down...my car sat so low the flares were already sitting on the BFG's and still have about and inch of release on the jack.

my watts are 15x10 and 15x8.5 which is decent. wish i had a better offset on the fronts but im not complaining. i can still get 14x9.5s and 14x9s for about $1600 or so with a nice negative offset but i think i wanna stick with 15's i dont know why im stuck on 15s.

oh yea i scored my watanabes on ebay for the whole set for $750 too...hehe

well im sure ill drive the car to los angeles when i visit frens but i dont think ill be sporting the "works" front grill. bumper, kit combonation...but surely will see it out driving...i didnt spend all this money for it to sit..i wanna have fun with it even if its a risk taking it out sometimes.

see yah

wait a minute....

please do find the pics of the red Z...

Ha! What if that was you that beat me to the wheels!!!

Ack! You got the wheels I wanted for my car, and then 3yrs later or whatever you got the car I wanted too??? What's with that Mikey...

That's it I'm not telling anyone what I want next, otherwise you might beat me to it for the third time...

Seriously though find me the auction pics of the red gnose...

There can't be too many of them out there in Alaska...

It's a small small world.
