Posted March 12, 200619 yr comment_159091 I am trying to find out if any one has done or seen an L20A crank in a L28 block and what it does for perfomance. Logically it should allow the motor to rev up faster.. Also, what type of connecting rods and pistons were used for proper deck clearance? If you are wondering how i got an L20A, my skyline original had one installed, i need more power :stupid: !!!thank you, chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19194-l20a-de-stroker-for-l28-info/ Share on other sites
March 12, 200619 yr comment_159092 You mean it should allow the motor to rev higher not faster, right? Because the engine with more hp will rev faster, and the 2.8L version of the L6 is bound to have more hp than a 2L. The car will make more hp with the 2.8 block and a 2.8 crank. It might have a higher rpm limit with a 2L, but it will be at the expense of hp. March 12, 200619 yr Author comment_159123 your right, i got my words mixed up.. thank you. But still has anyone seen it done? i have the L20A motor sitting around and if its a good combination i would install the setup. just looking for some advice from someone with more experience.. March 13, 200619 yr comment_159131 Never seen an L20 but I have seen an L24 crank used With 89mm pistons and I am not sure of the rod length but I believe they were longer than L24 rods. In the end the displacement stays about the same but the potental to be a longer lasting motor at high revs is there. A conventional L28 motor can be balanced and made to survive revving 8k+ but the motor you are talking about, if built correctly should have a longer life span at the same revs. I bet the power would be about the same for either motor, it is all in the head. Of course the life span for a 8500-9000 rpm motor is only measured in hours not miles. For the street I think staying with a l28 is the way to go. If you need power then look into a stroker or an over bore, displacement is the way to get power and reliablility, not reving to the hevens (though it would be fun).
