Alan,

Miles,

& whomever else might now...

Do you happen to know when the NostalgicHero car show/swap meet is scheduled for this spring? From years past I remember it being in Nagoya?

I would like to attend if the dates work out in my favor. My local Japanese bookstore no longer carries the magazine so I don't know when it's scheduled for. I'll be in Japan the last week of April. Thanks for the tip,

Eric,

As far as I know, the dates for this year's 'BP Nostalgic Car Show' are:

*Fukuoka - 12th March

*Nagano - 3rd & 4th May

*Tokyo - 27th & 28th May

*Nagoya - 17th & 18th June

*Hokkaido - 15th & 16th July

*Osaka - 24th September

You can get more info from the website: www.nostalgic.co.jp

Alan T.

( ps - Nostalgic Hero magazine has an overseas subscription service if you want to get it mailed to you direct from Japan ).

I went to the one last Spring in Tokyo and it was great, lots of Nissans and a bunch of Toyota 2000 GTs. The swap meet was so-so as most of the parts were for newer cars than S30s but, there were two vendors with a bunch of old magazines that featured older Japanese sports cars and I got some nice S30 magazines.

It and the Sagamiko Spring meet would almost be worth the cost to make the trip and stay there long enough to attend both events.

I guess it's not meant to be... I am flying out 3 days before the Nagano swap meet. Oh well... Next time. I guess I'll stick to visiting my favorite shops and see what I can afford to bring back.

Alan, weird about the overseas subscription service, the website I linked above is the publisher of NH, well one of the links off of that page is what I understood to be the subscription info sheet, here it is:

http://www.geibunsha.co.jp/nenkan/nen_nh.htm

and it specifically says in English even that they do not ship overseas...

weird, their website must be out of date or something if you've been able to get a subscription going...

Thanks anyways & all the best,

Eric,

I have a 'subscription', but I didn't pay for it. They gave it to me as some kind of freebie a few years ago, so I don't know if I should really class it as a 'subscription' if I don't pay for it.........

However, they do accept overseas subscriptions and they even have a page in the mag that is dedicated to this ( in English ). Maybe this is for 'Nostalgic Hero' only and not the other titles in the Geibunsha publishing portfolio - hence the information on the website not being 100% accurate?

Here's a scan of the subscriptions page. Surely its worth a try? Do remember that the mag is bi-monthly ( only six issues a year ), so you have to weight the cost up against that:

Ben

The thing with the Japantown bookstores (Kinokuniya and Asahiya) is that all the magazines/videos they bring in to sell to us here in the States they more than DOUBLE the price on... Kinda hurts after a while, especially when you see the japanese retail price printed on the cover... NH only costs 760yen (or about $5) in Japan... Kinda hurts to pay $12-15 after a while... you know?

Especially when you can go to a place like MrCraft in Ebisu and find a ton of backissues for sale... I'll just stock up on the cool issues when I'm there.

Thanks for the tip Alan...

I'll inquire just the same...
