Posted March 13, 200619 yr comment_159251 Anyone have any experience "reattaching" a fuel filler door to it's hinge? I have a '77 Z and made the mistake of backing into the filler door while I was filling the tank which slightly pulled the door away from the hinge. When I open the door now I have to slide my hand up against the inside part of the hinge to push it open instead of pulling the door open. Thanks,Bob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19207-fuel-filler-door-fix/ Share on other sites
March 13, 200619 yr comment_159254 The last Z I bought had a bit of separation of the fuel door from it's hinge. I cleaned the area as best I could and mixed up some 2 part epoxy from the hardware store, smeared it in between the hinge and door and then lightly clamped it back together with a C clamp overnight (using small blocks of wood to protect the metal parts from the clamp). Works good so far, but I should have used a bit less epoxy as there is a visable bead of epoxy showing around the edge of the hinge. (can't see it with the door closed, but I see it when I fill up though no one else would) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19207-fuel-filler-door-fix/#findComment-159254 Share on other sites
