i have an 82 datsun 280zx turbo. car runs fine when in park... everything workds perfect. when u put it into drive and then give it gas to take off, the car loses power and dies. it starts right back up tho. car has new fuel pump, fuel filter, clean tank, new alternator, cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires.

anyone had a problem like this before or have a solution cuz im stumped

when put in drive is it ok or is it only when you give it gas? does the car rev up fine in park?

you can rev the engine in park just fine and it goes into drive and reverse just fine.. but once u give it gas to try to make it move, it will take off a little but then it dies as if it was running outta gas. it starts right back up but same problem keeps happening

Don't know your model very well but was talking to a guy who had one close to yours and his air intake tube was collapsing and choking off the car. Just something to check. I think Arne had this happening to his car but it was just fuel injected, no turbo
