240Z Wins 1.5 Hour ECR at VIR!

Member Greg Ira & Guy Marvin won the 1.5 ECR (Endurance) race at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) in Marvin's ITS (Improved Touring fastest class) 240Z. Ira put the car on pole for Sat. race. There were a total of 103 cars in the race! Ira set the pace and turned the car over to Marvin with 20 minutes to go and Guy brought her home for the overall win. Greg qualified second for the 1.5 ECR on Sunday. The second ECR only had 80 cars entered! Greg passed the pole sitter on the second lap and they had a great nose to tail battle until the RX7 had a problem and dropped back. The Z team had a nice lead when he turned the car over to Guy to finish the race. Only problem was the car was having clutch & gearbox issues. They finished 2nd overall to a SRF (Spec Racer Ford) and first in ITS with only 3rd & 4th gears! It is really cool to see a 35 year old car kick butt! The Z team is off to a great start for the SE (Southeast) ECR championship with 3 wins & a 4th place so far! Not bad for an old car. Greg is also running his EP (E Production) 240Z and has 2 wins & a 3rd so far this season.

Could you write that Post again - only this time include the words ahead of any abbreviations the first time the abbreviations are used. It's the only way i can learn what your talking about;-)

Yes that's a BMW & a RX7. The RX7 was on the front row both races.

I know they have to use the stock SU's. I am sure Greg or David Spillman can address this in much more depth.

If it is a true ITS car it would be a stock spec motor.

Does anyone know the history of this car? It really looks like Mike Eckhaus's old Z with an orange stripe and meatballs added.
