Are the shocks interchangable between the 240Z and 260Z

I am talking about the cartridge inserts. As far as I know the rear struts diameter has been changed for the 260z compared to 240z, but could someone advise me the part numbers? Also does anyone know if the front ones changed?

And yes I am in Australia.

Struts do change in production for S30 versions in the Australian market.

If you are after constructive information. You need to go back to basics like what you are driving / age type maybe the vin to work out an application date. This will allow someone to look at the books or catalogues and supply you with workable feedback. Not telling you to suck eggs just trying to assist with information flow.

260z shocks wont fit in 240z tubes, but 240z shocks will fit n 260z tubes as long as you use the correct gland nut for the strut/shock.

If you are after a cheap set the ac delco ones that sell on ebay for around $60 to $80 will fit either, as they come with gland nuts to fit 240z struts and 260z struts.

I think Mr Camouflage has probably identified the largest change for you this occurred AUG/73. Be aware that not all advertised strut inserts will just drop in and do the job, some will frustrate, some wont go at all, and some will go with engineering changes.

Good Luck

for info

There are five different listed front tube combinations for 240Z and two different listed front tubes for 260z.

There are four different listed rear tubes for 240Z and two different listed tubes for 260z.

suppliers can mess it up real well so stick with good known product from genuine suppliers.

Welcome back Steve. I havent seen any posts from you in ages.

datto_240z bought some of those ac delco shocks from ebay and has them in his 260z. I bought some to replace my mine in my 240z, as i have know idea how old they are, and they looked pretty bad. Will be a few years before i get the car back in one piece.

You will get it all done one day, and it will be worth it.

I have been busy with projects and work got to Nnevada and Arizona though.

My Tockicos are just about ready for replacemant now plus springs and fixed spring perches/seats. So this is topical thread for me at this time always watching for the good buy, arent we all.

cheers

Steve
