tripple webbers from an aston martin

was over a buddy of mines the other day, he restores classic aston martins. couple of amazing cars there... anyways he had a straight six from a parts car that had tripple webbers... any idea if they are compatible with a Z? if he said he can most likely get em to me.

i didnt really get a good look.... I know i should have but they were in front of a $100k car so i didnt really want to fiddle around back there haha... They were off a HUUUGEEE straight 6... biggest damn one ive ever seen

If they are from an Aston Martin, they will most probably be WEBER 45DCOE-9 units - which are quite sought after these days.

Weber made the '9' series 45DCOE expressly for Aston Martin, and it was later used on Coventry Climax, Cooper Climax, Lotus and Maserati race engines.

Weber themselves recommended the 40DCOE-18 and 45DCOE-9 as the best match for Nissan's L-series sixes ( naturally, the two sizes were to suit capacity / output ). The accelerator pump rod stroke and most of the other settings are ideal base settings.

I have a nice early ( circa 1968 ) die-cast set of three 45DCOE-9s which I am currently refurbishing for use on my Nissan S20 twin cam. I have completely stripped them, drilling out the lead bungs and cleaning out all the fuel runners and having the bodies vapour blasted. Nissan themselves used the 45DCOE-9 on some of their race S20 engines in period, so it seems fitting to use them.

Don't use them on a 'mildly' tuned engine. They need to be used on something that warrants them.

If you are looking for a radical set up I have a modified N42 head with oversized valves, radical cam, lifters adjustable cam sprocket, 50mm Mikunis with airhorns, and intake manifold...the whole set up, perfect for a 3 liter or 3.1 liter motor that I am looking to sell...

Let me know if your are looking to do something really wild...this could be the setup for you....

i plan on running a stage 3 cam... and eventually high compression pistons... i wanted to do the carb flip anyways... anything i can get my hands on as long as they are not flat tops, ill take

That cam is TOO DAMN SMALL!!! MSA should stop selling the stage I and II and call the Stage III the stage I. Go stage IV or better, preferrably better, for triples. I'm running a .490/280 and I really think I could do better with a larger cam. The .490/280 ran FINE with a 8.3:1 bottom end. I upped it to 11:1 and now I'd like to run a .510/305 or somewhere in there.

There are some other issues that you have to deal with like changing valve springs and valve stem seals, but you'll really reap the top end hp rewards for your effort. Without you'll have a top end induction system with a mid range engine build, which nets you a kinda crappy result, as I think Alan was alluding to...
