This '79 I am dismantling had the lower end of a N47 in it. The front three pistons have a "2 3" stamped into the top and the back three have "3 4". What does this mean?

Also the tops of them are scratched somewhat like someone scraped the carbon of them with a putty knofe or something. A couple of them look like someone too a file to the uppermost lip around the dishing.

Also, what is the acceptable 'loosness' of a block? With the head off (obviously) and the disty/oil pump removed, I can quite easily turn this thing over with my right hand with the damper pully while 'feeding' the timing chain through my left hand.
