clutchdust Posted March 26, 2006 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2006 working on the '72 now i have it where it will run reasonably well. but i can only take it out in daylight. problem is the headlights won't come on. i have parking, brake and turn signals, but no headlights. this is the farthest into this car i've been so i never saw the headlights work before. i assume, of course, they did work at one point but i do not know if someone previously disconnected something or it's an electrical gremlin of its own device.also, since installing a pertronix i have no tach reading. where does the tach get its signal? i have several haynes manuals for this car but it seems the schematics start with the '75 or '76 models. where do i look? beandip Posted March 26, 2006 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2006 I just returned from the library and they have , at least at my library . The wiring diagrams for the whole car that can be accessed on line . So check with your local library they most likely have the same thing . I am working on another auto related project and needed info. so I asked as long as I was there. You could most likely down load all the information you need . Hope this helps . EScanlon Posted March 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted March 27, 2006 If you've removed the resistor by the coil, JOIN those two wires. It should be a Green/White and a Black/White. That will restore the circuitry to your Tach. This happened to another member and that was the fix.As far as your headlights, check the main power ground (Black Wire) at the steering column bundle of wires that connect to the combination switch. Without this wire the headlights won't get power.FWIWE
