July 6, 200618 yr comment_173702 just don't try 13 hours with screaming AC and oil pump idler pulleys, no speedometer or cruise and 90+ heat. At least the drive back was better once those pulleys were fixed. By the way, if you are ever in Delray Beach Florida, avoid Maroone Nissan at ALL COSTS.Now it's sixty miles of mountainside curvies every day... July 10, 200618 yr comment_174074 Back in '75 I drove my '71 240 from Spokane to Clearwater, Florida, via San Fransisco and LA. Was a wonderful drive. Took other long trips and none were ever boring. Loved listening to the exhaust sound, the occasional "road race", and the scenery. My current '71, which I purchased last month in Tucson and drove home, brings back a lot of the memories and I look forward to many trips in her. Carl worked at monroe street Datsun in 1970 . July 11, 200618 yr comment_174235 Yes, I bought my Z from what was then Jaremko Motors on N. Monroe. I started the Spokane Chapter of the Z Club of America. I know Carl well. In fact he was the one that talked me to moving to Clearwater back then. I am in Albuquerque, NM now. If you stop into Valley Nissan (or whatever it is called now) ask Paul Jaremko about my Z - he should remember it (mention the name Bill Jones and a silver z). I spent a lot of $$$ through their parts dept for comp and accessory parts(not to mention the many cars I bought from him). I sold my Z in the Tri-Cities in 1984 off the Nissan dealer showroom floor. Would love to find that Z and hope it is still in decent shape. July 12, 200618 yr comment_174273 I don't get it, I'm looking for a drive all the time. I drove a 71 across Canada (coast to coast). Other than the praries I loved every minute. If I had the time I'ld do it again. By the way if any of you guys hate driving your 70/71 I know who will drive it no problem!! March 14, 200717 yr comment_202272 I drove my 260Z for 8 days straight, average 8 hours a day, all with a WORN uni joint, worn out old points ignition, a dying fuel pump and a really rich tune.Just as I got back to my home town it dropped the driveshaft with a lovely bang. Now i have a brand new driveshaft + uni joints, new tie rod ends, new fuel pump, slightly better tune and electronic ignition, soo much better now.But that said, i was glad I took my Z.
