Whats up with MSA????

Can anyone verify with an actual measurement what MSA's 16x7 offset is? I have been told that their wheels have a +6mm offset rather than the 'normal' 0 offset we're used to. From what I hear, the +6mm offset makes the fit about perfect with 225/50R16 tires, while the 0 offset/225 combination tends to rub a bit. If I buy them somewhere besides MSA, I want to be sure to get the correct fit.

Don't forget other factors that may be influencing what they sell.

Beandip recently went checking for 14" tires, and discovered that although they're ~still~ available, they're just not held in stock if they even have them. Most folks are going to larger tires, lower profiles. The 14" rim is slowly going the way of the old 12" rims simply because you can't get tires for it.

BUT, 1st gen Miatas have 14" rims, so they may not be extinct for a while. I'm sure other subcompacts run 14s, but names escape me...Plenty of tire options exist at Tire Rack.com, and I bet a little snooping will gain some more "local" sources.

With that said, probably not a bad idea to get a second set of 15 or 16 inch rims if you're going to drive your Z as a daily car, since tires for those are still ubiquitous...

Yes and no. There are plenty of 14" performance tires. But very few in the relatively large 14" sizes that the S30s require.
