April 8, 200619 yr Author comment_162714 You will also need the front differential cross member and the rear curved cross member from a 280z if your '72 doesn't have it. Get the half shafts as well.10-4 good buddy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19538-r200-question/?&page=2#findComment-162714 Share on other sites
April 8, 200619 yr comment_162715 Yeah, the clunk...... I hate that part. When I replaced the U-Joints, even the driveshaft lost all of it's slight play (?!?!?!?!).http://ironlizard280z.blogspot.com/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19538-r200-question/?&page=2#findComment-162715 Share on other sites
April 8, 200619 yr comment_162722 Unless I'm mistaken you will need a mustache bar from a 280z not a ZX.Or a 260Z. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19538-r200-question/?&page=2#findComment-162722 Share on other sites

Get the half shafts as well. The front diff cross member is not needed from the R-200.the R-180 unit will work just fine. And I'm assuming that when you say the rear curved crossmember you mean the mustache bar?the R-200 axle shafts are not needed aswell.but I'ts always nice to have extra parts.JZM.. April 8, 200619 yr comment_162731 I think he's talking about the curved piece that wraps around the back of the diff. On early 240Zs this piece was straight, and would not clear an R200. April 8, 200619 yr comment_162740 72 should have the curved transverse link. I think they moved the diff back in mid 71 and it was this move that required the curved link instead of the straight one. April 8, 200619 yr comment_162749 Part at the top of the pic is not the mustache bar. He will need the 280Z mustache bar AND the part I mentioned which is more of a "curved cross member" if his car doesn't already have one.. September 1, 200618 yr Author comment_180683 Me again turns out a couple of months ago, I went to see if the guy had the R200 out of the car for me and ready to go, and he said that it was completed gernaded! not cool not cool at all!! Now I'm back to square one. I will be needing an R200 soon, before I put my suspention back on, just wondering if anyone somewhat near to me has one or knows where I can get one with all the parts I need to put it in my 1972 240z??? I went to my local junk yard and they don't have a clue what it is or if they have one and they said they could order me one in from some other junk yard for like $400 and that just plain crazy!! PLEASE HELP!! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19538-r200-question/?&page=2#findComment-180683 Share on other sites
