I think you'll find most of us prefer the stock NGK plugs in our L-series engines.

As for wires, you'll hear a whole lot of different opinions, but you don't have to pay a lot for fancy wires to get good ones. The blue NGK aftermarket wires are actually quite good.

Right on...NGK BP6ES, for a stock motor, start going colder (bp7es, 8 etc) for modified motors...Idealy you want to run the coldest plug that will not foul. BTW the BP7ES was the "alternate" stock plug. The stock NGK wires are excellent, however if you want the best wires money can buy IMHO go with Magnecor. www.magnecor.com

What they said, spend the money on trying platinum splitfires, but know that you will be better off with standard plugs from NGK. The NGK wires are good, but the Magnacore wires are outstanding(you absolutely get what you pay for)

same here.

NGK plugs. you'll prevent a lot of headaches. had to chase down a miss, it turned out to be 2 of 6 brand new Champion plugs.

magnacor wires. not that expensive really. got mine from Apex Performance last year for $45 plus shipping.

Taylor pros, just over 1 yr. old are having issues, they look great, worked fine new but strange cross fire and leaking appeared. Just tossed them and installed the Magnecor KV85 wires. AWSOME! Instant change in the idle & boots fit 100% better. Also tossed a couple sets of Iridium plugs in the emergency junk box ($$!!) Went back to the orig. NGK plugs. Datsun motors love these plugs, and you can replace them 3 times for one exotic-snake-oil plug! These are 2 items you can't go wrong with in your ignition set up Magnecor & NGK BP6.

They'll do fine Enigma. I've had them on my daily driver Firebird for 3 or 4 years now. Had only one bad boot, fixed it and still running them. Next time I'll go different. But take care of them, don't yank on them and the Taylors will be fine for general use day to day driving. It is different thinking when the motor spends 75% of it's time between 4500 to 6500rpms.

Don't forget to think about a Pertronix ignition module in the distributor to get rid of having to use points. Normally these are good ignition up grades too. Easy to install and no more worries about points.

All though I was at the Pertronix factory yesterday in San Dimas, Ca. discussing their 2nd revision Ingnitor Ignition kit compared to their first unit, something funny going on with the new unit compared to their original. I'll be taking my distributor into their facility to do some playing around. I've got them stumped on a new unit not working in the distributor but bench tests out fine. We'll see what happens.

Good to see you here again Craig. I ran into the same problem when I tried to put a Pertronix in the old 320. Bench tested fine, just wouldn't work in the truck. Never figured it out. Oh well, another project to tackle this summer.
