Posted April 12, 200619 yr comment_163168 For those of you that upgraded your rear drums to discs using Modern Motorsports's rear disc upgrade package, what did you use up front if you replaced or upgraded the front rotors and calipers? I beleive the rear upgrade kit uses Brembo 11.4" rotors. The stock rotors on the 78 up front are 10.75". I'd like to use the same size rotor up front as in back so everything 'looks' the same through the wheels when looking at the car from the side...Any suggestions?78 280Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19598-mms-rear-disc-upgrade-and-what-in-the-front/ Share on other sites
April 13, 200619 yr comment_163187 Chris, You may want to look through the archives to help you make a decision! Typically, front rotors are larger than rear rotors as they do more work than the rear. I highly recommend you do your homework before laying out the green backs. First you want to ask yourself what type of driving you intend to do with the Z....street or track or a combination of the two. Then there is the question of how much you are willing to pay. Don't forget that there are other upgradef to the brake system that can be made.....SS flex lines, possibly a proportioning valve, and maybe even upgrading the master cylinder!? Also, at some point you will be selecting pads.....which ones will fit your needs. Hope this helps a bit?Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19598-mms-rear-disc-upgrade-and-what-in-the-front/#findComment-163187 Share on other sites
April 13, 200619 yr Author comment_163190 I've pretty much decided that I do want to do the rear disc upgrade. The car won't be raced or autocrsossed but I'd like to have the up-to-date brake set-up back there. I've been through the forums here and on Hybrid Z and it seems like 99% of the subject matter is about the rear disc system. I'll look a little harder for that 1%...
