Posted April 13, 200618 yr comment_163293 My rear choke is coming on ok when i pull back my lever, but the front one does not move, although i can push up on the linkage at the carb and the nozzle will pull down. What should i look for to repair this? Is it a case of a broken cable, or could the cable be binding up? Alos can you still get OEM cable? I have heard bike cable is not the best thing to use. This is just one thing i'm trying to fix in my ongoing saga, for more details look at the thread"rust in gas bad running now".Thanks folks!! April 13, 200618 yr comment_163301 Sounds like the cable snapped, since the lever still moves and the other cable still actuates the other choke. The cables are easy to find (at least around here). April 13, 200618 yr comment_163310 I heard you can also use the solid throttle cable that is used on many lawnmowers. Not sure if there is any truth to this or not. April 13, 200618 yr comment_163316 I've heard that motorcycle shops can replace the inner (wire) cable and regrease your choke cable assembly for less $$ than buying OEM new Choke cables. April 13, 200618 yr comment_163325 I've heard that motorcycle shops can replace the inner (wire) cable and regrease your choke cable assembly for less $$ than buying OEM new Choke cables.Buy the new cables they are not that much $$$....ask JZM. I had a set that broke and cause the plastic on the consol that they were mounted to break. This is an automatic consol too....so I am going to have to come up with another way to mount the choke. The point is; don't take a chance on ruining your consol like what happened to me get new cables. Having a motorcycle shop rebuild the choke cable asembly results in a virtually NEW part.FWIW, it wast the broken cable that caused the console to break, it was the operator who kept yanking on the handle instead of finding the problem and fixing it. Been there, done that, learned my lesson.deadflo: I use lithium grease to lube my unbroken cable. I got a littl tool at the cycle shop that helps direct grease from my little grease gun into the outersleeve of the cable. It was a cheap tool to buy. Let me tell you it is no joy starting an automatic without working choke cables.
