so can the short nose R200 kaaz diff be used in a longnose? i did a quick search on the net (esp. in australia) and coldn't find any model numbers or suppliers

They use a different pinion, but the carrier is the same. The 240SX unit that replaces the OPEN carrier has 12mm ring gear bolts, but you can use a spacer if you're worried about that, but it isn't absolutely necessary. The 240SX unit to replace a VLSD has the wrong spline count on the side gears, so it can't be used.

There is currently a group buy on another forum... $450 for brand new Power Brutes with the better clutch packs and the full locker cross pin... this is their best carrier.
