Posted April 16, 200619 yr comment_163814 I am gutting the interior of my early '71 and find the transmission tunnel has a very small hole for the stick and no provision for a hold down ring for the inner shift boot. I have no idea whether or not the boot that was in there is even out of a Z, I suspect not. My question is: What does an early boot look like and how is it held down? Glue down or does it rim in the hole itself like a fire wall grommet?Any help appreciated.Best Regards,H Houghton Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19661-early-inner-shift-boot/ Share on other sites
April 16, 200619 yr comment_163816 There is a boot and it does hold onto the rim of the hole like a grommet. Should be available thru a dealer, I think there's a guy who sells them on ebay pretty much constantly, or you could try Courtesy Nissan. April 17, 200619 yr Author comment_163859 As I was looking at the Black Dragon Catalog it shows another smaller inner boot. Does this fit over the shifter ball itself, directly on the transmission?Best,H Houghton Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19661-early-inner-shift-boot/#findComment-163859 Share on other sites
April 17, 200619 yr comment_163860 That's right. There's the one on the transmission, then the inner, then the faux leather one on the console. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19661-early-inner-shift-boot/#findComment-163860 Share on other sites
