Just wondering if American (I got in trouble for calling you lot Yanks) car clubs have similar activities as the club I belong to.

We have quite a bit of community involvement, for e.g.;

Every two years we host a car show that attracts entries from all over, charging the public a gold coin entry fee. Proceeds are shared between (usually) three charities (normally for children). Last year we donated over three thousand dollars to each charity.

Anytime someone (a museum or school) asks us to display our cars, there's always a good turnout.

We work closely with other car clubs in the area, helping with the running of their shows as well as participating;

Help out the Rally club by manning checkpoints;

We're co-organisers of the Rocky Swap, a gigantic swap meet where you can buy anything from a second hand toaster to a military uniform, cars and parts, furniture ...... you name it .... it's probably there. Last year there were over eight hundred stalls. For a small charge, we have a pick up and delivery service for anyone who buys something too big or heavy to carry.

Our next event is the Queensland Cancer Fund's "Relay For Life". A team of ten people simply walk in relay around an oval all night and raise funds.

Over the next four Saturdays I'll be perched on a chair behind a table in the main street of town, selling tickets in the QCF's Art Union.

Can anyone match that ????????????

Rick.
