Posted April 19, 200618 yr comment_164236 Has anybody ever seen these markings on a Z camshaft before? I would like to know the grinder to contact about specs. It does not match the numbers of the main grinders like Crane or Isky etc. How does Nissan, Rebello and Sunbelt mark theirs? They do not respond to my emails. No time or interest I guess. April 19, 200618 yr comment_164272 That "C" might be the original Nissan marking.. and the cam you have more than likely is a regrind.According to Nissan: 13001-E4126 'A' Camshaft (L24/L28 to 8/81) 13001-N3636 'C' Camshaft (L26) 13001-P7980 'F' Camshaft (L28E from 9/81) 13001-P3026 'B' Camshaft (L28ET A/T to 7/82) 13001-P9580 'J' Camshaft (L28ET M/T to 7/82) 13001-P9980 'M' Camshaft (L28ET from 8/82)Unless you are the original (as in only) owner - you never know for sure what you will find in a Z 33+ years later...I haven't found any reference to the grind number... so far...FWIW,Carl B. April 19, 200618 yr comment_164279 You could put the cam in a set of V blocks and put a dial indicator on the lobe and measure the lift. Multiply that by 1.5 and then you'll have the lift at the valve. Doesn't tell you everything, but you'll at least know a little bit. I suppose you might be able to do the same with the head on the block by popping off a rocker and measuring it right on the car. April 19, 200618 yr comment_164316 A close way to measure the lift is to measure the base circle of the cam, the bottom part where it is round, the measure the height, subtract the 2 and multiply by 1.5. Of course you need to use a dial caliper or mic but that will get you in the ball park, after that look at other cams with the same lift and the duration will probably be close since most cams for a particular engine follow a pattern of lift/duration.
