Well, the first 350Z in Texas has arrived at the National Convention. (Well, actually, we found out it's been in hiding at Courtesy Nissan for the last week or so in a back room under lock & key!)

Here's the engine. Up to this point, Missan will only say that it's rated above 280 hp. They will release the actual stats on July 3rd.

The guy at the right (in the red shirt) is the one who had the honor of driving the car from Dallas. I'm not sure exactly who he is yet. But I assume he's from Nissan. He said it drove and handled nicely, but that it was a bit harsher than he would have liked.

Rear....

They a big plastic covering for a rear strut-bar.

'Harsher' that he liked????? Mebee he needs to ride with some of us! This somewhat explains why the car pictured is an auto. I'm pretty mixed on it...of course we will like it...may take a few years...new things are always like that...think back to when they re-designed the Mustang, or the Corvette...or the 7-series Bimmer--OK, bad example.......The rear end is pretty bad...there's actually a few things that are pretty bad...but, things change, times move on...we'll get used to it. I'm sure it is a beautiful package. I'm actually thinking about the G35 Coupe for my wife. If I decide to buy one, will you all still be my friends?

I looked and looked at the photos and something was wrong! then it hit me . . . . it was not red. What the heck is a sports car . . . a new sports car . . . being shown off to the world . . . that is painted bluuuue.

Oh one more thing its is an auto trans.

I am looking forward to seeing other colors for the 350Z but that blue seems to hide the body lines.

Now thinking of getting the new Z emblems for my 240.

Looks like the automatic also has manual shift mode. Pretty sweet. Here's the tranny specs:

6-speed close-ratio manual transmission or Electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode

http://www.nissandriven.com has some other pics in its other colors...i think the car looks pretty good, itll also be pretty fast from the specs ive read. Nice new performance machine from the looks of things, but ya never know untill its been driven...
